"and"和松散句

松散句在文章中隨處可見(jiàn),難以消亡。松散句在語(yǔ)法上并沒(méi)錯(cuò)誤,它只是太長(zhǎng),且干擾讀者對(duì)文章的理解,不幸的是,犯有此類毛病的作者往往屢見(jiàn)不鮮。對(duì)此可遵循一條好的原則:如果發(fā)現(xiàn)一個(gè)句子長(zhǎng)及兩到三行,則仔細(xì)考慮兩遍,它很可能要徹底改動(dòng)。

Better: I’m sorry to let you know that a winter storm will delay shipment of your order until February 16.

松散句經(jīng)常有很多"and"。在口語(yǔ)中,尚可多用幾個(gè)"and" 但若過(guò)多地出現(xiàn)在書(shū)面英語(yǔ)中,則令人難以接受。取代"and"的方法是改用逗號(hào)或從屬結(jié)構(gòu),或者干脆省略。
